The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has identified Dupri Tang as the motorist who died when the car he was driving was struck by a train in south Sacramento County.
The collision occurred about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday when Tang, 40, of Elk Grove, was westbound on Calvine Road, west of Vintage Park Drive.
When Tang drove toward the railroad crossing, the crossing arms were down, signal lights were flashing and warning bells sounding. A California Highway Patrol officer said witnesses reported that Tang’s car either went around or skidded through the crossing arms.
The front end of the vehicle was struck by a southbound freight train. The impact propelled the car into the crossing arms and into the median of Calvine Road, where it struck a pole.
Tang died at the scene.
