Woodland police have arrested a suspect in the March 18 stabbing death of a 33-year-old man.
About 9 a.m. Friday, police received an anonymous tip that Julio Demetrio Gayton, 26, was at a residence on West Elm Street in Woodland. Officers set up a perimeter and, using a loud speaker, directed Gayton to come out of the home. Gayton came outside and was taken into custody without incident, according to a Police Department news release.
He was booked into Yolo County Jail on suspicion of homicide in the death of Scott Michael Zumbrum of Woodland, who was found dead with a stab wound about 10:40 p.m. March 18 in the 600 block of Elm Street. Police said dispatchers were told that a fight had occurred.
Police are still seeking a “person of interest” in the case, 23-year-old Jesse Armando Tapia. He is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He also has tattoos that include a star on the left forehead and above the left eye, and “RIP Billy” on a forearm.
