Fire crews knocked down a fire inside a mobile home in south Sacramento County Tuesday morning, stopping it from spreading to another residential structure and a chicken coop.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters were called to the fire at about 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 9300 block of Rogers Road, near Gerber and Bradshaw roads.

Once there, firefighters had to force their way into the boarded up mobile home to extinguish the blaze before it spread to the adjacent chicken coop. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, not only stopping spread to the coop but also to a nearby “living unit,” according to a fire district press release.

Cause of the fire has not been determined. Loss was estimated at $10,000.
