A man’s death in Nevada City on Monday night is being investigated as a probable homicide, Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal said in a news release Tuesday.
At 11:13 p.m. Monday, the county’s Regional Dispatch Center received a report of a fight in progress in the 11000 block of Forest View Drive in Nevada City.
Sheriff’s deputies who responded to the call found an unresponsive man in his 40s, who was pronounced dead by fire and medical personnel who also had responded to the call.
Sheriff’s investigators are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence with the assistance of the state Department of Justice and the county Search and Rescue Team.
“Currently this death is being considered a homicide,” Royal said. “Due to the nature of the investigation, the name of the deceased and any other details surrounding the incident will not be released at this time.”
