Sheriff identifies Nevada City homicide victim

A homicide victim whose body was discovered at his Nevada City residence Monday night has been identified as Brian Spalding.
The 41-year-old man, who sustained numerous gunshot wounds, was found in the driveway of his residence in the 11000 block of Forest View Drive after a 911 call at 11:13 p.m. reported a fight in progress.
An autopsy is being conducted , Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal said in a news release.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the homicide with the assistance of the state Department of Justice Crime Lab, county District Attorney’s Office and county Search and Rescue Team.
“We will continue to provide updates as the situation and investigative leads allow,” Royal said.
