Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully has promoted one her prosecutors to the position of assistant chief deputy district attorney.

Scully announced that Robin Shakely, who began her career in the DA’s office 35 years ago as a legal research assistant, will assume her new job on Monday. Shakely has been a supervising deputy district attorney since 2001 and has also served as Scully’s special assistant.

Shakely is widely known for her expertise in child abuse and child homicide prosecution. She has worked on statewide efforts addressing issues of child abuse and fetal infant mortality.

Scully said that Shakely’s breadth of prosecutorial experience coupled with respect she has earned throughout law enforcement makes her a natural to assume a higher leadership role in the office.
