Scores of firefighters responded to a blaze on the fourth floor of a downtown apartment building Saturday afternoon.

The fire, which originated in the kitchen area of Park Mansion apartments in the 1300 block of 15th Street, was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

Park Mansion residents lined the sidewalks outside of the building across from Capitol Park in the late afternoon, many of them with pets on leashes or in carriers. Fire officials said they would be able to return to their homes this evening.

Ten fire engines and four trucks from three agencies responded to the blaze.
