Sacramento police arrested a man who pushed a woman out of her midtown apartment and then said he lived there.

The man, Joseph Bethel Gasaway, 46, on Saturday was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of burglary.

A woman told police that Gasaway entered the rear entrance of her first floor apartment in the 1700 block of O Street about 2:45 p.m. Saturday and told her to get out. He then gave her a light push out the front door and locked her out, according to a police activity report.

During that time, Gasaway “alluded” that the apartment was his, police said. Police surrounded the apartment and made a telephone call to Gasaway.

Eventually, he came outside and was taken into custody.
