A teenager suffered injuries that were not life-threatening when he was shot this afternoon during a reported robbery at Gibbons Park in Carmichael.
Sacramento Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the victim, who is in his late teens, reported that he was in the park on Gibbons Drive when a vehicle pulled up and the occupants, who he said were strangers, got out. They reportedly put a shotgun to his head and demanded money from him. The victim told deputies that after he handed over less than $10, he was shot in the jaw and his assailants left in the vehicle.
Bowman said the victim was alert and cooperative, and was transported to a hospital.
Three people reportedly were involved in the robbery, and Bowman said two suspects were found nearby. They directed deputies to the location of the vehicle that was involved.
Bowman said the third suspect has been identified but has not been found.
She said detectives were interviewing the suspects who were detained and will speak further with the victim after he receives medical treatment.
