A man suspected of shooting a fellow employee at a landscaping business on Thursday in Rancho Cordova has been arrested.

The shooting was reported about 7 a.m. to dispatchers by an employee at the busines in the 3200 block of Fitzgerald Road. The reporting employee heard two other workers arguing and then the sound of shots fired.

One man was wounded and the other worker, identified as Cristobal Chavez, 52, fled the business in his car, according to Rancho Cordova police.

Chavez was later arrested in the north area of Sacramento. Police said he would be booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The gun police said was used in the shooting has been recovered. The shooting victim, who police did not identify, suffered life-threatening injury.
