Yolo County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a school teacher for allegedly stealing a student’s prescription medication.

Sheri Laverne Haselhuhn, 40, a teacher at Delta Charter School in Clarksburg, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance. She has since bailed out of jail.

The Delta Charter principal called deputies to the school on Tuesday after school authorities learned that a student’s prescription medication had come up short. School officials said that the pills were kept in a locked cabinet in a room under video surveillance.

On Wednesday school officials told deputies they discovered something suspicious in their review of the video. A deputy responded and also viewed the video from April 28 that allegedly showed Haselhuhn removing medication and ingesting it.

At 9 p.m. Wednesday, deputies took Haselhuhn into custody at her home.
