Walk-away prisoner missing from Mule Creek re-captured

A minimum-security inmate who walked away from Mule Creek State Prison in Ione has been re-captured.
Randy Robert Crommelin, 45, a convicted burglar from Alameda County, was discovered missing from a minimum-security housing unit of the Amador County prison about 8:50 p.m. Saturday.
Prison authorities confirmed Monday morning that he had been re-captured in Hayward over the weekend. Crommelin is serving a 13-year sentence.
Mule Creek State Prison houses about 2,900 minimum, medium and maximum-custody inmates.
