A Roseville man, shot by police after he allegedly fatally stabbed his father, was released from the hospital Sunday and booked into jail.

Patrick Allen Burke, 55, was arrested last week in the killing of his father, 85-year-old Lonnie Burke, who died Wednesday at Sutter Roseville Medical Center. The younger Burke was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer.

Patrick Burke is scheduled for his first court appearance at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Placer County Superior Court.

Police said that they were called to the Burke home in the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue at about 6:20 a.m. last Tuesday for a report of a man who had stabbed his elderly father.

When the first officer arrived, he found Patrick Burke outside the home, armed with a knife. Burke attempted to attack the officer, police said in a news release.

The officer, fearing for his safety, shot Burke. More officers arrived and found the elder Burke inside the home with stab wounds.
