One worker was pistol-whipped and his fellow employees robbed in a violent stick-up at a South Sacramento restaurant Monday night.

Four or five armed robbers in their 20s entered the Golden Corral restaurant, 7700 West Stockton Blvd., after it was closed for the night about 10:10 p.m. Monday. One of the robbers then struck an employee with a weapon.

The restaurant employee was then led to other employees who were robbed of their tip money and cell phones. Cash from the business was also taken.

The suspects fled the scene, prompting a Sacramento police search by helicopter and by officers in squad cars. However, the robbers were able to get away.

A follow-up investigation is planned for Tuesday.
