Two men were booked into jail for allegedly shooting a firearm and then trying to swim away from officers in the Northgate area of Sacramento.
Reuben Amaro, 21, and Robert Solorio, 29, are suspected of discharging a firearm while under the Silver Eagle underpass near the 3400 block of Northgate Boulevard late Monday night.
Law enforcement helicopters arrived on the scene and spotted two men fleeing the area, discarding a rifle and swimming across a canal. Officers surrounded the area and took Solorio and Amaro into custody.
They were arrested on suspicion of gross discharge of a firearm and fleeing from officers.
