A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his mother at their Antelope home.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Janet M. Matta, 75.
The Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received an abruptly ended telephone call from the home in the 8000 block of Silk Tree Way about 4:45 p.m. Sunday. A man on the other end of the line said he had “an altercation” with his mother and then dispatchers were disconnected, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
When patrol deputies arrived at the home, they found Janet Matta dead inside the residence. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said the cause of death has not been determined pending a medical report from the Coroner’s Office.
The only other person living in the home, John David Matta, 53, the son of the dead woman, was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of murder. The reasons surrounding the altercation are still unknown, according to the news release.
