Roseville police report that a woman has been taken to a hospital for mental evaluation after she reportedly was seen with a handgun this morning at Heald College.
Officers responded at 10:43 a.m. to the college at Sierra Gate Plaza regarding a report that a woman armed with a handgun was outside the admissions office. Both Heald College and John Adams Academy, a charter elementary school in the same plaza, were placed on lockdown, according to a Police Department news release.
When officers arrived, the woman was no longer in the area of the admissions office. Police surrounded the area and searched for the woman inside and outside the school and nearby area.
Using video surveillance, officers were able to identify the woman as a current student, and they subsequently found her in a classroom, on lockdown with fellow students. Police said no weapon was located.
No one was injured and the lockdowns at both schools have been lifted.
