Auburn police have arrested a man in connection with the burglary of a cell phone store.
Officers responded to the store on Highway 49 about 4 a.m. Friday and found that someone had entered by breaking the glass door. No one was found inside.
The business owner arrived and told officers that two cell phones were missing from the window display. The owner also was able to provide surveillance video, which showed the suspect breaking into the store, according to a Police Department news release.
Later that day, Placer County sheriff’s deputies contacted a man identified as 21-year-old Roy D. Kimbro near a cell phone store. The deputies were aware of the burglary at the Auburn store and notified Auburn police. Kimbro was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and several outstanding warrants. He is being held in Placer County Jail in lieu of $110,000 bail.
Police said the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call Officer Mike Metzner at (530) 823-4223.
