Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies have made an arrest in the killing of a man on Sunday on Auburn Boulevard near Garfield Avenue.

Pavel Postelnyak, 23, of Sacramento has been arrested on suspicion of homicide in the killing of Anthony M. Johnson, 28, of Sacramento.

Johnson was shot while in the vicinity of the 5500 block of Auburn Boulevard, near Madison Avenue and Interstate 80. Deputies were called to that location about 11:15 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting.

However, after deputies arrived, they were told that although a man had been shot, he had been taken in a private vehicle to the hospital.

Deputies drove to the hospital where Johnson received treatment. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office confirmed that he died of his wounds Sunday night.

A motive for the shooting is not known as of Wednesday, according to a sheriff’s department press release. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the sheriff's department at (916) 874-5115.
