Coroner releases cause of death for Folsom boat crash victims

The El Dorado County Coroner’s Office today released the cause of death for four men involved in a May 10 boating accident on Folsom Lake, indicating all died of injuries suffered in the crash of their vessel.
James Strauch, 47, Toby Strauch, 54 and Kenneth Smith, 48, died of broken necks, while Gerald Jacobs, 53, died of blunt force trauma to the chest, according to an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The group’s Skater 32 speedboat was believed to have been traveling more than 100 mph before it crashed.
Jacob Strauch’s body was recovered Friday, and the bodies of Toby Strauch and Jacobs on Saturday. Smith’s body was recovered Monday. All four men are from the Sacramento area.
