The body of a motorcyclist has been recovered from a heavily wooded area about 16 miles from Foresthill in Placer County.
CHP Officer David Martinez said law enforcement officers did not know whether it is the body of Alan Porter, a Sacramento resident missing since April 29. He said the Placer County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the remains and notify family.
The deceased male and the motorcycle were discovered Thursday morning by hikers down a 300-foot embankment off Mosquito Ridge Road. CHP and Placer County sheriff’s deputies, along with Forest Service personnel, responded to the scene.
Martinez described the road in that area as winding, with switchbacks. He said it has not been determined why the motorcycle went off the roadway. The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
Martinez said the body appeared to have been at the location for some time. Because of damage to the motorcycle, he said, officers were not immediately able to identify the maker.
Porter was last seen riding his blue 2004 Yamaha motorcycle.
