A 21-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle on a darkened highway in Davis early Friday morning.
California Highway Patrol dispatchers received a call about 2 a.m. Friday that a pedestrian was walking along the right shoulder of northbound Highway 113 north of Covell Boulevard.
While officers were en route, they were advised that the pedestrian apparently had been struck by a big rig on Highway 113 north of Russell Boulevard. Officers began an investigation and spoke with the big rig driver who stopped.
The pedestrian, wearing dark clothes on an unlighted portion of the highway, was standing in a traffic lane when struck, a CHP news release states.
