The Placer County Coroner’s Office has released the name of motorcyclist whose body was recovered from a heavily wooded area about 16 miles from Foresthill last week.
He was identified on Tuesday as Alan Keith Porter, 58, of Sacramento, missing since April 29. Porter had last been seen riding his blue 2004 Yamaha motorcycle.
Porter’s body and his motorcycle were discovered Thursday morning by hikers down a 300-foot embankment off Mosquito Ridge Road. CHP and Placer County sheriff's deputies, along with Forest Service personnel, responded to the scene.
The winding road features many switchbacks. The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
