Woodland police are investigating the attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl.
Police said that the girl was walking in the area of East Gum Avenue and Kate Lane about 7:20 p.m. Thursday when she said she was approached by a man who pulled her into a nearby wooded area.
There, according to a police press release, the man tried to sexually assault her. However, the teen said she was able to break free and run away.
She was not physically injured in the attack. The case has been forwarded to the Investigations Division.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with slicked-back brown hair and a thick mustache. He was wearing an Oakland A’s cap with a yellow logo, a red, zippered hooded sweatshirt with a black t-shirt underneath, light blue jeans with paint splatter and black cowboy boots.
