A Sacramento motorcyclist died Wednesday morning in a collision in Sutter County.
Mario Alan Cole, 26, was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Riego Road just east of Highway 99 about 7:20 a.m. He apparently failed to see a Ford F-350 pickup turning left in front of him from westbound Riego Road to a dirt shoulder area south of the roadway, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. Cole braked but was unable to stop before striking the right rear of the pickup.
Cole was ejected from the motorcycle and hit the truck, according to the CHP. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old man from Yuba City, was not injured.
CHP officials said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been factors in the collision.
Any witnesses to the crash who have not spoken to the CHP are asked to call the Yuba Sutter office at (530) 674-5141.
