A teenager killed when the car she was riding in slammed into a parked vehicle has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office.

The coroner’s website lists her as Maricela Baza, 17, of Sacramento.

Sacramento police said they received a call shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday of a car that had hit a parked flatbed truck on Florin Road near 21st Street. When officers arrived they found Baza dead in the car.

Witnesses said that at least two people fled the crashed car. Officers eventually found the driver and the passenger from the car, a male and a female, who were in their late teens or early 20s, police said.

The pair was taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries. Police were attempting to determine if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
