Man reported on tracks dies when hit by Amtrak train near Davis

A man died early this morning when he was struck by an Amtrak train near Davis.
Yolo County sheriff’s deputies responded about 1 a.m. to the unincorporated area east of County Road 105 and County Road 32A regarding a report that train had hit a person.
The Amtrak train was eastbound from San Jose on its way to Sacramento and traveling 79 mph when the conductor saw a man standing on the tracks, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. After the train struck the man, it stopped and authorities were notified.
The Yolo County Coroner’s Office responded for investigation and recovery of the body. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
