The California Highway Patrol is reporting that two people appear to have been killed in a fiery single-car crash late Sunday on Highway 160 near Walnut Grove.
A minivan heading northbound flew off the road and tumbled 150 feet down an embankment, landing on its roof and catching fire, a CHP spokesman said. The crash was reported at 8:43 p.m.
Fire officials reported seeing bodies in the burning car, CHP Officer Mike Bradley said at 10:15 p.m.
“We can’t confirm how many bodies,” he said. “Fire (officials are) guessing possibly two.”
Bradley said a tow truck will have to pull the vehicle up to a spot where the vehicle can be inspected.
