A bicyclist died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in southern Sacramento County.

The 25-year-old man was riding his bike westbound on 47th Avenue west of Franklin Boulevard late Monday night when he was struck by a car. The bicyclist was in the bike lane when hit.

The cyclist was thrown to the roadway shoulder, suffering major injuries. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The driver of the car that hit the bicyclist drove away from the scene. The suspect’s car is described as a 2013 or 2014 gray or silver Nissan Sentra.

The California Highway Patrol is asking the public to call (916) 681-2300 with any information that could help find the driver and the vehicle.
