Auburn police say security cameras caught a man using credit cards from the misplaced wallet of a shopper.

The shopper misplaced her wallet when she was putting groceries into her vehicle in a parking lot at the Auburn Town Center on Monday. She soon recognized her wallet was missing and checked her accounts online.

She learned that a credit card had fraudulently been used twice Auburn area businesses. She immediately cancelled her cards.

Provided with the fraud information, Auburn investigators obtained clear security video of the person who they believe used the shopper’s card from stores.

On Tuesday, police arrested Daniel J. Sowles, 50, on suspicion of credit card fraud and burglary.
