The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has identified the man killed late Monday night in Sacramento as Donta M. Henderson.
Police said Henderson, 22, of Carmichael, was chased through a Sacramento housing complex before he was shot dead by assailants.
Police said that at about 11:40 p.m. Monday they were dispatched to the 300 block of Mint Street where shots were heard and a man was reportedly down on the ground.
When they arrived, officers tried without success to resuscitate Henderson, who had been shot more than once.
Police determined that Henderson had left a family member's home in the housing complex near North 12th Street and Richards Boulevard when he was chased by assailants. Eventually, he was confronted and gunned down.
Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call police at (916) 264-5471.
