Sacramento police are investigating the death of a woman who was found stabbed on a Meadowview sidewalk Tuesday.

A call to dispatchers at about 8 a.m. Tuesday initially described a person with gunshot injury at 24th Street and Meadowview Road. When officers arrived at the scene they found the wounded woman on the sidewalk along 24th Street.

The victim had been stabbed in her upper body. The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The killing does not appear to be random, police said. No suspects have been identified.
