Nevada County shooting victim is identified

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man who was found fatally shot Monday in Penn Valley.
He has been identified as 27-year-old Issac Zafft. The sheriff’s office said Zafft was a transient who previously lived in Minnesota.
About 1 a.m. Monday the sheriff's office received a report of gunshots heard in the 10000 block of Goodenough Court in Penn Valley. Deputies responded to the area but were unable to locate anyone shooting.
A short time later, the original caller contacted the sheriff's office and asked that a deputy check his property. Upon arrival, the deputy was directed to a greenhouse behind the main residence where Zafft was found lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a sheriff's office news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated as a homicide.
