A man wanted in connection with the June 28 slaying of a woman at a midtown Sacramento apartment was booked into Sacramento County Jail early Thursday.

Sacramento police reported that Mohammad Joseph Khan, 34, was booked on suspicion of murder in the death of 33-year-old Kelsey Snyder. Khan, who was believed have fled to Mexico following Snyder’s death, was taken into custody Monday by the U.S. Border Patrol.

He is being held without bail and is to appear in Sacramento Superior Court on Friday.

Shawna Lanza, Snyder’s aunt, said Khan was Snyder’s boyfriend. She said the family was not aware of any history of violence in the relationship.

Snyder’s body was discovered about 10 a.m. June 28 by a friend who went to check on her welfare after Snyder failed to respond to numerous phone calls and messages.
