A security guard was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography after deputies said he left a computer thumb drive with incriminating evidence at his job.

James Lee Johnson, 49, of Citrus Heights was booked into the Placer County Jail on suspicion of possessing child pornography after his arrest Thursday night.

Deputies said that he left a computer thumb drive at a Los Lagos security office-guard shack off Auburn Folsom Road in Granite Bay were he worked. After remembering he had left the portable data storage device behind, Johnson called another employee to ask him to place it in his work mailbox, according to a Placer County sheriff’s press release.

The employee looked at the contents of the thumb drive and found child pornography, according to the release. The employee then reported what he found to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives served a search warrant on Johnson’s Citrus Heights home Thursday night. He was arrested and several computers were removed by deputies from the home.
