Sacramento police have arrested a 19-year-old in connection to the death of a 14-month-old girl brought to a local fire station Friday evening.

Guyland Washington was booked Saturday in the Sacramento County Jail in connection with the child’s death. The girl, who police said had multiple injuries, was taken to Sacramento Fire Station No. 17, in the Robla area north of Interstate 80, at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Fire station personnel transported the child to UC Davis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Sacramento Police said that infant was in Washington’s care at a home on Andy Circle while the mother, 20, was at work. When the woman returned home, she saw that her daughter was in need of medical attention. She and Washington took the child to the fire station for help, police said.

Washington was later arrested at the house. A search of Sacramento Superior Court records found no cases for Washington.

The names of the mother and the child were not released.
