Elk Grove police are investigating what they have described as the suspicious death of a man on a walking trail today.
The 75-year-old man was found dead on a walking trail through a field near Whitelock Parkway and Bellaterra Drive, said police spokesman Officer Chris Trim.
Family members last saw the man about 7 a.m. He often leaves the home to look for recyclables, but relatives became concerned when he did not return home, Trim said. They discovered his body and reported it to police shortly before 1 p.m.
The man suffered obvious trauma to his body, Trim said. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will determine his cause of death and release his name after his next of kin are notified.
