A man walking on railroad tracks in East Sacramento was hit by a train and killed Friday morning, according to a Union Pacific spokesman.
The man was struck by a Union Pacific freight train on the tracks south of the Capitol City Freeway and west of the American River around 6 a.m., the railroad spokesman said.
The train crew sounded the freight’s horn, but the man did not leave the tracks. An investigation by Union Pacific is being conducted.
