A 2-year-old found floating in a duck pond at Elk Grove Regional Park on Saturday afternoon died after being taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Isaiah Obiaga was found by a lifeguard for a nearby pool and other residents who tried to revive him by performing CPR. When officials arrived, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:03 p.m.

The toddler’s mother was gathering for a photo as part of a church group and then she discovered her son was not there, Officer Christopher Trim, a spokesman for Elk Grove police, said Monday.

The incident is considered an accident and no charges are being sought against the boy’s parents, Trim said.
