Sacramento County detectives say they have linked a series of violent sexual attacks to a 20-year-old man, and they are concerned there could be more victims.
Investigators allege that Robert Derrick Hill of Sacramento, who was arrested and booked into jail on Friday, is a serial rapist who attacked women on the street. In two of three encounters, authorities said, he threatened his victim with a knife and in one of those attacks, cut his victim’s neck.
Hill was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, rape and other sex charges. On Monday, he declined media interviews from Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $2 million.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Bowman said Hill is suspected of sexually violating women between April 2013 and July 2014.

“It is quite possible that there are more victims out there,” she said.
The first incident occurred about 9:30 p.m. April 17, 2013, when a woman was attacked on Melrose Drive in North Highlands. The woman, in her mid-20s, was choked and raped by a stranger on the street, Bowman said. The assailant claimed to have a knife, but the victim did not see a weapon.
The second incident happened at 4 a.m. Jan. 25 on Golf Club Court, near Stockton Boulevard and Gerber Road in south Sacramento County. A stranger grabbed a woman in her 20s as she was walking, pulled her into an abandoned house and raped her at the threat of a knife, Bowman said.
The third attack was at 9:30 p.m. July 10 on Massie Court, not far from Golf Club Court. The attacker sneaked up on a woman, pulled her behind a building and forced her to the ground, Bowman said. The suspect cut the victim’s neck with a knife and raped her.
A piece of physical evidence at the scene, not a DNA sample, produced a suspect profile that connected the three rapes and led detectives to Hill, Bowman said. He was arrested at Sacramento International Airport, where he worked for an airline, the sergeant said.
Hill has no previous criminal history in Sacramento County, according to Superior Court records available online.
