The Citrus Heights Police Department is advising motorists of traffic congestion at the Greenback Lane-San Juan Avenue intersection due to a power outage that has affected the traffic signal.

Police report that traffic is backed up about 300 yards.

Approximately 1,500 Sacramento Municipal Utility District customers in Citrus Heights are affected by the outage. Chris Capra, a SMUD spokesman, said crews are trying to determine the cause of the outage but believe someone may have dug into a utility line. Once the cause is determined, he said, affected customers will be rerouted to other lines. Power is expected to be restored by 5:30 p.m.
