The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office reported that a Southern California man has died from injuries suffered in a crash near Galt late last month.
Justin S. Brunelle, 20, of Lancaster, was pronounced dead on Saturday.
Brunelle was a passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 99 near Simmerhorn Road about 1:45 a.m. on July 28 when for an unknown reason the vehicle turned to the right and left the roadway, then struck a tree. The California Highway Patrol earlier mistakenly reported that Brunelle was the driver of the vehicle.
Brunelle and the driver suffered major injuries and were transferred to the hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts. CHP spokesman Officer Michael Bradley said the driver, whose name has not been released, remains hospitalized.
