A Placerville man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting lewd acts with a child after allegedly placing an online ad seeking a minor to be his “sex pet.”

Placer County Sheriff’s detectives arrested Shawn Michael Roediger, 26, in Placerville on Monday after they allege he posted an online ad July 29 seeking sex with a young girl, according to a sheriff’s office press release. A sheriff’s detective responded to the ad posing as a 13-year-old girl and the deputy corresponded with Roediger for a week, according to the press release.

Roediger was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child, communicating with a minor for purposes of committing a sexual act and distributing harmful matter to a minor.

His bail was set at $100,000.
