Runway, a retired K-9 who worked at Sacramento International Airport, died this week.

A black Labrador retriever, Runway died of natural causes Monday, according to a post on the Facebook page for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. She had lived at the home of her former partner, Deputy Larry Berwick.

Runway worked at the airport from Sept. 10, 2001, until May 2008, becoming an “icon” at the airport, according to the Facebook message.

“Airport visitors and employees often asked Deputy Berwick about Runway, as she lived her retirement as a family member at his home. Runway will be remembered as a hard-working dog who was loved by all,” according to the Facebook post.
