Murder proceedings have been suspended in the fatal beating case against a Citrus Heights man who has been found psychologically incompetent to stand trial in connection.
Joshua Phillip Lowery, 35, was ordered placed in Napa State Hospital last Friday on a recommendation to Sacramento Superior Court from the state’s Conditional Release Program, according to online court records.
Lowery is accused in the Oct. 23 beating of Christopher Sorgani, 49, who died four days later. Lowery will be returned to court in Sacramento when hospital psychiatrists believe he has been restored to competency, officials said.
