Sacramento County police agencies are beefing up their DUI enforcement in anticipation of the Labor Day holiday.
Extra patrols are being added in the cities of Elk Grove and Folsom tonight. Elk Grove also will receive a DUI checkpoint tonight. Folsom is to receive a DUI checkpoint on Sunday night.
From Aug. 15 to Friday, officers from 17 county law enforcement agencies arrested 147 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to a news release. Last year, 188 DUI arrests were made during the same period.
Authorities said they planned to deploy more resources again during the Labor Day weekend, adding not only extra patrols but also DUI checkpoints.
