A car plowed into an Elk Grove preschool Tuesday morning, causing minor injuries to two of the young students inside.
Elk Grove police Officer Chris Trim said that at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday a car went through the wall of the Phoenix preschool, 3050 Babson Drive. The driver was dropping off her child at the school when she apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake, Trim said.
The car traveled about 6 feet into the preschool, punching a hole about 10 feet wide through the exterior wall. Children were in the classroom when the crash occurred.
“As you can imagine, a lot of them are very shaken by what happened,” Trim said. “Two of the kids had minor abrasions but not as a result of being hit by the car. They were injured by debris.”
The driver was not injured. Two girls were transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Trim said.
