A man died in a hospital Thursday night after suffering injuries in assault, Rancho Cordova police reported.
At about 11 p.m. Thursday, police were called to a hospital where a man in his early 60s was being treated. Patrol officers learned that the man had been in an assault in the 3300 block of Mather Field Road.
He later died at the hospital.
Detectives went to the scene of the assault and found that the man and another man had been involved in a mutual altercation. The man who survived the fight has not been arrested.
The facts of the case will likely be forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for review, according to a police press release.
