As of Thursday, CHP officials said the driver of the pickup and the vehicle had not been positively identified. Evidence recovered at the collision scene and witness statements indicate the vehicle was a 2001 to 2004 white Toyota Tacoma pickup, with “TRD-Toyota Racing Development” emblems on the sides, according to the CHP. It may have damage to the left rear quarter panel, left rear light assembly, rear bumper and rear tail gate.
The CHP has identified 109 vehicles through DMV records matching this description, and reports that these leads have been investigated and exhausted. Numerous tips also have been investigated with negative results.
CHP officials released a photo of a truck believed to be similar to the one sought. They ask anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle, or who may have seen it on Lytle Road prior to the collision, to call the Yuba Sutter CHP office at 530-674-5141.
