Traffic delays are expected on Interstate 80 and Greenback Lane this afternoon for the procession from church to cemetery for slain Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver.
The funeral for Oliver is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Adventure Christian Church, 6401 Stanford Ranch Road, Roseville.
The procession to Sierra Hills Memorial Park & East Lawn mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The 12-mile procession will involve many vehicles and traffic delays are expected between 1 and 2 p.m. en route.
The procession route will travel from the church at the main exit on Stanford Ranch Road, eastbound on Highway 65, transition to westbound I-80, exit at Greenback Lane eastbound and end at Greenback Lane at Verner Avenue.
At the intersection of Greenback and Verner Avenue the procession with sheriff’s vehicles, the hearse, the Oliver family and dignataries will turn onto Verner and proceed to private burial at East Lawn cemetery.
The remaining procession, consisting of other sheriff and outside agency vehicles, will proceed east on Greenback Lane to a law-enforcement only reception at the Citrus Heights Community Center, 6300 Fountain Square Drive.
Police will block or divert traffic at all intersections between East Lawn cemetery and San Juan Avenue. The sheriff’s department encourages motorists to use alternate routes instead of Greenback Lane.
Sacramento County Deputy Oliver and Placer Deputy Michael Davis Jr. were shot Oct. 24. Marcelo Marquez has been charged in both killings. His wife, Janelle Monroy, is charged as a murder defendant in the death of Davis.
The funeral service for Detective Davis will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Adventure Christian Church. The service is open to the public, but there is limited space.
Drivers could see traffic congestion, including during a procession from Chapel of the Valley, 97 Vernon Street in Roseville, to the church. Roseville police will be blocking Vernon Street from 8 to 9 a.m., from Lincoln to Atlantic streets.
The hearse and small procession will leave the mortuary at 9 a.m. and travel from Vernon Street to Atlantic, right on Wills Road, left on Galleria Boulevard., left on East Roseville Parkway, right on Pleasant Grove Blvd., right on Highland Park, then straight into the church parking lot.
Fire trucks will line the route to honor Detective Davis. After the church service, there will be a large procession to Newcastle Cemetery for private burial.
